Bangladesh: Stone Cave at Jaflong



An interesting feature of Bangladesh is lack of stone. By every construction site you will find workers hammering into pieces bricks to make "gravel": real gravel is just too expensive. Also the flat stone for grinding spices that every household has is an expensive item. So when you get to see stone in Bangladesh is an event. These pictures are taken at the border with India (and you can even spot some border police amist the crowd): here the flat fields of bangladesh abruptly hit the hills of Assam. This is where stone gets collected, processed and sent all over the country. As usual I only had minimal time to take pics...

this is a wonderful story Silva; and again some really powerful images. can't imagine that this story has been covered before....this is one you coudl really try and pitch further....good stuff.
